Yuma police are searching for 30-year-old Jose Jimenez, also known as "Rascal," for questioning in the murder of 29-year-old Christal Figueroa of Wellton.
Sunday, police identified Figueroa as the woman whose body was found in a Yuma citrus grove at County 17th and Avenue 2E Friday morning.
This is not Jimenez's first run in with the law. He currently has a felony warrant out for his arrest for a Feb. 21 incident where he fled into the Camelot Apartments on Ave. B from Sheriff's deputies after they attempted a traffic stop. At the time, deputies said Jimenez was possibly armed.
Now, authorities are looking for answers in Figueroa's death.
Police have not said who found the body, or what condition it was in.
Her friends said they are shocked that something so tragic would happen to their friend, who they describe as a kind person.
"She was loving and caring and kind," said Tina Carrillo, a childhood friend of Figueroa. "She would always stick her head out for her family and her friends. And once you were in her circle, you were loved by her."
Her friends who grew up with her in the tight-knit community of Wellton said they need answers and closure.
"She was very loving and caring," said Roberto Carrillo, also a childhood friend of Figueroa. "She had a gorgeous heart. I want people to remember that. This is a mother of three that has died, and she didn't deserve this."
People who know Figueroa filled our Facebook page with comments remembering her as a good person.
We spoke with the victim's aunt to find out more about Figueroa, but she said the family has no comment at this time.
