31-year-old Jose Jimenez was formally charged with two counts of first degree murder in Yuma County Justice Court Tuesday afternoon.
Jimenez was arrested March 31st in a home on the 900 block of South Avenue C.
That home was the residence of brothers James and Daniel Torres, who also appeared in court Tuesday.
The brothers are both facing counts of hindering prosecution, as they told police no one was in the home before officials found Jimenez hiding fully clothed in the shower.
With Figueroa’s funeral going on across town during the hearing, a victims advocate spoke during Jimenez’s appearance on behalf of Christal’s parents, pleading with authorities to keep Jimenez behind bars, calling him a threat to not only their family, but to the entire community.
Jimenez is being charged with a total of four counts in the murder of Figueroa, with two additional counts stemming from a hit and run he was involved in the very same day of the killing.
His cash only bond has been set at two million dollars.
Jimenez is scheduled to appear back in court next week.
