A Yuma man faces attempted homicide charges after authorities say he shot a woman in the leg.
At 12:36 a.m. Sunday, the Yuma County Sheriff's Office received a 911 call about a shooting in the 110400 block of S. Tornado Ave. in the foothills.
Sheriff's deputies arrested 30-year-old Jose Rodriguez.
Other people also called 911 to report that a woman had been shot in the leg.
When deputies arrived, Rodriguez was being detained by another person, and a neighbor was giving first aid to the female victim.
Authorities say Rodriguez fired a .40 caliber pistol at the woman after a domestic dispute.
Three children, ages 5, 9 and 11, were in the house at the time of the shooting.
Deputies recovered the pistol at the scene.
The woman was taken to Yuma Regional Medical Center to treat the gunshot wound.
Rodriguez was booked into the Yuma County Jail on multiple charges, including attempted homicide, aggravated assault, and endangerment.
News 11 contacted the Sheriff's Office to find out the condition of the woman and to ask about the safety of the children who were present during the shooting.
