The Gila Ridge Hawks came off of their historic win over Sunrise Mountain as a team breathing fresh air; venturing into the brand new territory of the final eight.
Their rematch against top seeded Seton Catholic started out with a 1-0 lead in the top of the first. But, the rest of the contest would prove to be an uphill battle for the Hawks.
Starting pitcher Irving Lopez would give up four runs in the first two innings (three in the 2nd) to give the Sentinels a lead that couldn't be overcome.
Even though the Hawks scrapped together another run in the 6th and had the bases loaded in the 7th, a one out grounder turned into an instant double play that ended the game.
Gila Ridge's loss lands them in the elimination bracket, where they'll face Sahuaro (Tucson) on Saturday. They have to win this game to stay alive in Division 2 tournament play.
