A 66-year-old man is reported missing after he went fishing at Mittry Lake Monday night and did not return.
Friends of the man reported him missing to authorities early Wednesday afternoon when the man did not return Tuesday morning as he said he would.
The diving team with the Yuma County Sheriff's Office has found the man's boat and belongings.
Now, they are combing the lake for the missing boater.
"The boat was found off in the lake partially submerged. We did find the missing person's belongings with the boat," said Alfonso Zavala with the Yuma County Sheriff's Office.
The man was visiting from California, according to authorities.
They know the identity of the man but are not releasing it at this time in case they find a deceased body.
"We have not been able to get in contact with any family members. So we wish to hold that information," Zavala said.
Wednesday, other fishers looked on as divers combed the water, searching for the missing boater.
"We were fishing right there and they asked us to leave because the divers were in the water. They jumped in the water and they were searching underwater for whatever was down there," said Aaron Cadena, an avid fisher.
Although the man's boat was found partially submerged, at this point in the investigation, authorities are considering this a missing person's case.
The Sheriff's Office's diving team will resume their search for the missing man at Mittry Lake Thursday morning.
