Yuma police have identified 28-year-old Jennifer Silva as the woman who died of a gunshot wound Tuesday morning.
Police responded to the 100 block of S. 10th Ave. at 8:05 a.m. Tuesday.
Officers responded to a call around 8 a.m. Tuesday for reports of shots fired.
Officials say Silva was transported to Yuma Regional Medical Center where she was later pronounced dead.
Neighbors tell News 11 that all day detectives were seen taking evidence from an apartment in the area of the 100 block of South 10th Avenue.
News 11 spoke to the victim's cousin, Ritch Cabazuelo who said the family is in shock. He said he never would have expected this to happen.
Tuesday afternoon, investigators could be seen searching two crimes scenes that police say are connected.
They also served a search warrant at a home in the same location.
Detectives are continuing to investigate the case and are conducting interviews.
