One man died after a vehicle he was riding in crashed into a utility pole and burst into flames.
It happened Friday night around 10:30 p.m. near County 14th and Avenue G.
The Somerton/Cocopah Fire Department responded to a call about a vehicle crash into a utility pole.
When responders arrived they saw a black Nissan 350Z fully engulfed in flames and a passenger on the opposite side of the road with severe burns.
After firefighters doused the flames, they found the drive Francisco Garcia Jr, 20, inside. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Medics flew the 19-year-old surviving victim to a burn center in Phoenix with second and third degree burns covering 70% of his body.
His name is being withheld at this time.
The cause of the incident is still under investigation. Authorities believe alcohol appears to be a factor.
