A Yuma man is behind bars after what was initially reported as a possible kidnapping of a toddler at the Crossroads Mission thrift store.
Officers arrested 23-year-old Cory Bathrick Saturday.
According to police, Bathrick was working at the thrift store when he saw his daughter in a shopping cart with her grandmother; that's when he took her.
Witnesses told police that Bathrick ran across 8th Street holding his daughter, and several cars had to swerve to avoid hitting them.
Bathrick is facing charges of disorderly conduct, endangerment and assault.
The family claims the mother of the child has been keeping the child away from the father for the last five months.
Bathrick will be back in court Tuesday to hear formal charges.
