The Arizona Diamondbacks pull the trade trigger in the nick of time. Before Wednesday's 1 pm Major League Baseball trade deadline, the Snakes trade away one their starting pitchers to a division rival.
The San Diego Padres have acquired Diamondbacks right-handed pitcher Ian Kennedy to bolster their own bullpen.
In return, the D'backs will get left-handed pitcher Joe Thatcher, a minor league pitcher and a compensation round draft pick.
Kennedy has struggled this season; getting three wins and eight losses in 21 starts. This while racking up an ERA above five.
