Thirty seconds—long enough for an armed robber to get off with some cash.
But he had another demand.
"When he entered the store, of course [he] demanded the cash in the cash register and also Swisher Sweet cigars,” said Capt. Eben Bratcher of the Yuma County Sheriff’s Office.
Monday about 1:30 a.m. Yuma County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the Circle K on Highway 95 and Avenue 7E.
It was after a clerk called 911 saying the masked robber used a gun to rob the store.
Investigators say the gunman demanded the clerk put cash in a bag and took off.
It doesn’t end there. It was a busy weekend for robbers in Yuma targeting this chain of convenience stores.
"It is kind of odd that it seems to be almost exclusively Circle Ks here lately, and why this is, we don't really know,” said Capt. Bratcher.
Early Friday morning, two robbers with hooded sweatshirts entered the Circle K on Avenue B and 24th Street. They took off with more cash and a case of beer.
