Giant Gas station on 32nd Street was the next convenience store in Yuma to become the target of an armed robbery.
"[The gunman] approached the clerk behind the register, demanded the money out of the register and then fled out of the building," explained Capt. Eben Bratcher of the Yuma County Sheriff’s Office.
This time the armed robber didn't waste any time on a bag. The gunman pointed a weapon and took the entire register tray.
Sheriff's officials say the risk isn't worth the cash.
"These stores know that they can be targeted for this type of activity and frequently limit the amount of cash that's available in the register," said Capt. Bratcher.
Witnesses were able to get a vehicle description. Investigators say it was a small SUV, possible a Geo Tracker, dark in color with a white top.
It happened early Tuesday morning—the latest in a handful of armed robberies this year in Yuma county which sheriff officials say may be related.
