Houston Astros shortstop Carlos Correa won a ring on Wednesday and promptly gave another away.
Shortly after the Astros posted a 5-1 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers in Game 7 of the World Series, Correa got down on one knee and proposed to his girlfriend at Dodger Stadium.
"Right now I'm about to take another big step in my life," the 23-year-old Correa said on live television. "Daniella Rodriguez, will you make me the happiest man in the world? Will you marry me?"
Rodriguez, the 2016 Miss Texas USA, clasped her hands and quickly said yes before kissing Correa. He then presented the 21-year-old with an engagement ring, and they kissed again.
A beautiful celebration to be certain, and one that Correa planned in advance.
"I was planning if we were World Series champions, I was going to do it right there," Correa said. "I don't think that's a stage you can create; it just has to happen. And we were able to win (Wednesday), so perfect timing for me to get engaged.
"I've been thinking about it for months now, but I was waiting for the perfect opportunity, you know. I knew we had a great team, we could accomplish this, and I wasn't wrong."
