Imperial Valley residents help Humane Society Clear The Shelter

EL CENTRO, Calif. - Dozens of residents helped the Humane Society of Imperial County "Clear The Shelter" on Saturday.

Rosa Moyron and her family were looking to add a new four-legged friend for their dog Simba.

Moyron said, "It's huge. Cause sometimes we all work. Sometimes he's alone at home. So he needs his companion. Somebody."

Only one dog captured their hearts and they look forward to giving him a loving home.

"They met the dog, They fell in love too. So we all agree. He's a cute dog we want it home."

The "Clear The Shelter" event helps the Humane Society of Imperial County relieve their overcrowded animal shelter.

Devon Apodaca, Executive Director of the Humane Society of Imperial County said, "This gives us the perfect opportunity to get tons of animals out of shelters and into homes."

Apodaca said adopting makes a difference in a shelter animals life.

"You know there's millions and millions of animals and shelters and there's not enough homes. And so when people are adopting you know they're saving lives."

The Humane Society of Imperial County said they expect atleast 20 shelter animals to be adopted at Saturday's event.
