EL CENTRO, Calif. - 2 Imperial Valley League softball front runners cross paths for the 1st time this Spring, and it would go down as a classic pitcher's duel.
The Central Lady Spartans are the hottest team in the IVL, winners of 8 of their last 9 games and are currently unbeaten in league play at 3-0.
Meanwhile, the Imperial Tigers are nipping at their heels; currently sitting in 2nd place in the current league standings.
Friday night's game would turn out to be decided by a single run scored; as both Central starting pitcher Janyssa Martin and Imperial starter Anahi Grijalva played stellar respectively from the mound.
The moment that ultimately tipped the scales for a Central victory was when Karmina Becerra hit a solo home run in the 4th inning, to give the Lady Spartans the 1-0 win.
Central increases it's overall league win total to at least 2 games above everyone else.
Both teams will meet again at Imperial in early May.
