Imperial gets fast playoff start!

Tigers boys basketball impresses in 1st round

IMPERIAL, Calif. - The Imperial Tigers boys basketball team has won the games that counted the most this season; taking the Desert League title outright and closing out the regular season, taking 3 out of the last 4 games before the playoffs.

The Tigers 18-9 overall record was enough to give them the 5th overall seed in the CIF San Diego Section Division 4 Playoffs, where they were paired up with 12th seeded Escondido Charter in the 1st round of the tournament.

The home court at Imperial High School proved to be an advantage for the Tigers, as the White Tigers had trouble knocking down shots early.

This would allow Imperial to capitalize with quick rebounds that would set up their transition game that would effectively give them a number of easy baskets in the opening minutes of the entire game; helping them open up a 13-0 lead.

This would set the tone for the rest of the contest, as the Tigers would run away with this one; getting the 68-48 win.

The Tigers will get a much tougher test in the quarterfinal round on Saturday night, as they pay a visit to 4th seeded O'Farrell Charter.
