YUMA, Ariz. - A battle-tested dancer is now taking on the biggest fight of her life.
Kate Campa has been hitting the stage as a competitive dancer since she was two and a half years old. She has won countless awards statewide and locally.
In December 2018, things quickly took a turn after learning she was suffering from a rare type of cancer, Ewing's Sarcoma.
"It is hard because I had to see my family through the window during Christmas, said Campa. "It was hard."
A rare pain in her back led Campa to the exam room where she learned about her disease.
"I believe dance has helped her be who she is right now. It has helped her have a strong foundation and strong mind to battle through anything," shared Lilian Campa, Kate's mom.
Despite battling through the disease, Kate is not alone in this fight. The community has shown an outpouring of support. Some have shaved their heads and others are rocking t-shirts around town.
