YC girls basketball rebounds!

Shamrocks hold off Odyssey Institute

YUMA, Ariz. - The Yuma Catholic girls basketball team seeks to get back it's winning stride for 2019.

Even though the Shamrocks got off to a hot 11-0 start, they fell flat at the end of the December; as they took 4 tough losses in their last 5 contests.

The Rocks would look to start fresh, as they opened 3A Metro West play on their home court on Friday night.

YC would use some scrappy defensive play and timely scoring to take the 13-7 lead after the 1st quarter, thanks in part to a buzzer beater shot by Kylie Meerchaum.

Veronica Saco was key in the Rocks efforts, as she led the team with 17 points and 6 steals, while teammate Taylor Walton contributed 12 points on the night.

YC would wind up getting back on the winning track, taking the victory in a 51-41 result.

The Rocks will continue section play next week as they host Paradise Honors on Tuesday night.
