SOMERTON, Ariz. - Court documents show a third suspect has now been named in the murder of a taxi driver in 2018.
Jada Herrera was booked into the Yuma County Adult Detention Center Wednesday on charges of first-degree murder and armed robbery, tied to the July 30, 2018 murder of taxicab driver Guillermo Silva Sotelo.
The Somerton Police Department (SPD) said Jada Herrera was arrested on August 31, 2018 on a first-degree murder charge.
The 18-year-old was formally charged as an adult in the case on September 24, 2018 according to court documents, but that was never disclosed to News 11.
SPD said they were able to connect Herrera to the case though phone records.
Herrera was indicted by a grand jury on first-degree murder and armed robbery on October 4, 2018, and the case was moved to Yuma County Superior Court on October 15, 2018.
Tyrus Twist and Hailey Hoover, both minors at the time, were charged as adults in connection to the murder on August 17, 2018.
Sotelo was reported missing after not returning from a pickup in Somerton on July 30, 2018.
The Crazy 8's Cab driver's body was found on July 31, 2018, on the side of Highway 95.
Herrera's trial is set to begin in December.
