Pedestrian dies following Friday vehicle collision

YUMA, ARIZ. - One of the pedestrians involved in the serious vehicle collisions has died. Two vehicles versus pedestrian and bicyclist collisions lead to road closures Friday night. 

The first vehicle versus pedestrian collision was reported on 32nd Street between Arizona Avenue and Catalina Drive around 7 p.m. The pedestrian was transported to YRMC with serious injuries.

Yuma Police Department confirm that 58-year-old Francisco Valdez succumbed to his injuries later that night.

Westbound traffic on 32nd Street was closed between Arizona Avenue and Catalina Drive for several hours. Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the collision.

This was just one of two collisions that night.

Several minutes later, around 7:15 p.m., another collision was reported on 24th Street and James Drive. An adult man bicyclist was struck by a vehicle. He was transported to Yuma Regional Medical Center with serious injuries. Alcohol is not believed to be a factor. 

All traffic on 24th Street was closed between James Avenue and James Drive for several hours.
